Judy Thorn

Judy Thorn was raised by a family of artists in the US, the UK, and Canada. She attended Concordia University in Montreal/Tiohtià:ke where she received the Irving Layton Award. Her work appears or is forthcoming in addanomadd, Ahoy, Angel Food, carte blanche, Dreck, The Gravity of the Thing, Hobart, Hungercandle, LURCH, Room, and more. She was a finalist for the 2026 Bennett Nieberg Transpoetic Broadside Prize, judged by Jos Charles.

Her debut chapbook Everything is Something Else: A Theory was self-published in 2025. Index Letters, a book of found poetry written with Nadia Niva, is out now.

She hosts and curates literary events in Portland including Bloomers Poetry Club, Women Reading Their Instagram Stories, and the Handsome Young Men Reading series. Her work with Bloomers has been covered in Willamette Week.

Judy played Christine Jorgensen in the short film Do You Know Lucy? (dir. Casey Durand) and will appear in upcoming film projects by Kimberly Brooks and Thom Hilton.
